My husband, Marty, and I have been married for 35 years and he has had more than that number of surgeries during that time, from suspected cancer to reattaching an almost severed finger. I created this installation as part of a healing process and to convey what this is like for the caregiver - the fear, the frustration, the empathetic pain, the tears. We have survived. And we hope, but cannot assume that the next crisis will be the last.
