Portfolio > Spring Island Inspired

We have moved from Charleston to the Beaufort SC area. I created this piece for a local show that was inspired by the area. There is tradition of samplers in the South so that became my chosen medium. The map has many symbols. I love mysteries. These include the five countries which have ruled this area, the founding date, flora, historical references to local NA tribes and references to the local industries of shrimping, cotton and rice.
