General Submissions and fun stuff
The exhibit theme was to merge legal content into a piece of art. My husband is an attorney which influenced my desire to participate. I am not sure how I came up with the idea of a game format, pitting the red states against the blue in terms of legal issues. I know there was a lot of publicity at the time about various cases regarding evolution, gay rights, abortion, etc, things that start out as being legislated and then someone files a complaint, stating that it is unconstitutional. This shows the division in the country that has only increased since I created this piece almost four years ago.
It was interesting to do the research, finding relevant cases to represent both sides. It took awhile to figure out how to get the look I wanted, since I had never created anything on the computer other than a word document. So, there was a high learning curve. I would like to use the skill I acquired into another pice but have yet to be inspired enough to repeat the process.
